Hermitage Piano Trio -
Dvořák’s Circle

Hermitage Piano Trio is thrilled to announce their third album for Reference Recordings, titled Dvořák’s Circle and released in April 2026.

In Dvořák’s Circle, the trio brings together the musical and personal connections between Antonín Dvořák (1841–1904) and two composers he taught, mentored and who became family: Josef Suk (1874–1935) and Rudolf Friml (1879–1972).  The beautiful and dramatic works included on this recording showcase the creativity, connectivity, and diversity of teacher and pupils.  Their intersection, musically and personally, provides a portrait of three gifted individuals who explored and developed their talents because of the essential inspiration of one of the greatest composers of all time.

The album was produced by GRAMMY® winners Victor and Marina A. Ledin of Encore Consultants.  It was recorded in April 2023 by Reference Recordings own GRAMMY®-winning and multi-nominated engineering team of Sean Royce Martin and Keith O. Johnson, at Skywalker Sound’s Scoring Stage in Marin County, California.

Introducing the Dvořák’s Circle album

Reviews

”utterly winning... played with passionate sweep and sweet, vibrato-rich tone by the Hermitage players... an essential purchase.

— GRAMOPHONE (June 2026)

”The Hermitage Trio… play as one on three different instruments. Total integration… All the compassion, expressive power, and virtuosity on display will leave a lasting, profound imprint on the listener.

— HR Audio (June 2026)

”Keylin’s violin proves ardently expressive… while the cello underlines the depth of emotion. The violin-cello duets prove thoroughly beguiling, over a soft ostinato from the keyboard. Each of the instruments enters to collaborate in a swaying, tearful farewell. Besides some fine ensemble playing, this album features excellent commentary… within an attractive and colorful booklet, handsomely produced.

— Audiophile Audition (July 2026)

”The Trio plumbs Dvořák’s music elegantly and with suitable intensity, but without overdoing the work’s emotionalism to the point of sentimentality. The restraint of the Hermitage Piano Trio is notable here: everything is in its place… nothing is overdone… the music flows and flowers naturally. Performers… delve into the music in ways that draw composer and listener together in a melding of interdependence and understanding.

— InfoDad (July 2026)

”If the Hermitage Trio's Dvorak performance sounds authoritative, it should: it's been a staple of its repertoire... and consequently is executed with complete confidence.

— Textura (August 2026)

”Hermitage Piano Trio plays all of this music with gusto and vivid technique… [Reference Recording’s] SACD sound brings it all to life.

— The Absolute Sound (Fall 2026)
